Skill Standards define the specific skills and knowledge required to perform tasks effectively within a particular role or industry. Unlike Unit Standards, which are often task-specific and focus on the completion of individual competencies, Skill Standards take a more holistic approach, aligning training with broader industry needs and expectations. This shift supports a competency-based approach to learning, ensuring that training directly prepares individuals for real-world challenges. The new emphasis on Skill Standards means training providers and industry professionals can expect a more adaptable, cohesive approach to workforce development.

Skill Standards are now published on the NZQA website and you can find them here: Domain – Temporary Traffic Management (nzqa.govt.nz)
