Health & Safety Risk Training for TTM Workers on the Road

Describe and apply health and safety risk assessment to a job role in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry good practice.

This is a 1 day classroom workshop. You will go through basic requirements for risk identification on the job (in the field) and come up with solutions and controls to reduce risk, as well as understanding the severity (harm) and how likely those risks could occur.

With the move to a risk-based TTM approach nationally, these skills will be critical for anyone working in or around TTM. We have tailored this to focus on using risk tools for TTM activities, to allow attendees to understand how to apply these skills in their day to day work. General Overview

This workshop is designed to equip trainees with the knowledge and practical skills to perform health and safety risk assessments in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. It is tailored specifically for individuals working in or around Temporary Traffic Management (TTM), helping them identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks in their day-to-day work.

For those working in other industries, like construction and other trades, we have the standard workshop also available. 

  • Understand the principles of health and safety risk assessment.
  • Learn to identify potential risks on the job and evaluate their severity and likelihood.
  • Develop practical solutions and controls to reduce workplace risks.
  • Gain hands-on experience using risk tools specifically adapted for TTM activities.
  • Your National Student Number (NSN)
  • A form of identification (Drivers Licence or Passport)
  • Examples of health and safety documentation
  • This is an entry-level course. It is aimed at NZQA Level 3, which means trainees need to have some knowledge about the topic, and be able to apply solutions to problems they are familiar with. 
  • No prior qualifications are required, however trainees should have some experience and exposure to workplace health and safety (this can come from any industry or organisation, not just TTM).
  • Ideal for workers on the road who assist with or implement TTM, as well as field workers needing basic risk assessment skills.
  • Some on the job training is required and you will need to bring sample documentation along. 
  • Suitable as an introduction to risk assessment for senior staff, managers, or planners before progressing to more advanced unit standards such as 33253.

This workshop does not involve a unit standard. 

It will assist employers in meeting their ongoing training and competency requirements under HSWA 2015. 

A Trilogy Training record of completion will be provided for evidence.
