General Worker

The General Worker workshop is ideal for those entering or working on worksites under Temporary Traffic Management (TTM). Designed for contractors, office staff, project managers, or site visitors, it provides essential entry-level knowledge for navigating and working safely around TTM sites.

This half-day course, available in person or online, equips trainees with safety knowledge, including worksite entry/exit protocols, emergency procedures, hazard identification, and proper PPE usage. It also serves as a stepping stone for those considering the TTM Worker course, which offers further training for those planning to take on traffic management roles.

General Overview

This course aims to:

  • Equip trainees with the basic skills and knowledge to work safely on a worksite under TTM.
  • Ensure trainees understand and follow key safety practices when visiting or working within a TTM site.
  • Learn how to enter and exit a TTM worksite safely.
  • Understand how to work safely on a site, including around road users and construction traffic.
  • Identify potential hazards and implement safe practices within the road environment.
  • Gain knowledge of emergency procedures, reporting lines, and the roles and responsibilities of TTM personnel.
  • Your National Student Number (NSN)
  • A form of identification (Drivers Licence or Passport)

This workshop is open to anyone working onsite or visiting a TTM worksite. It is best suited for:

  • Contractors working within the worksite but not involved in TTM activities.
  • Office workers, project managers, or others visiting TTM worksites.
  • Those not planning to take on TTM-specific roles such as TMO or STMS.
  • Trainees will complete a theory-based open-book assessment.
  • Answers must demonstrate a clear understanding of the material and be provided in the trainee’s own words.
  • Assessors will use their professional experience to evaluate responses.
